Interested youth need to plan come to at least one group art space at Evergreen to make samplers, no experience required. Please sign up for one in the form below (June 25, 2-4 or July 4, 2-4pm or July 13, 1:30-3pm)
Candidates must not currently enrolled in another employment program through Evergreen or elsewhere, be un-employed or underemployed (no full time), be between the ages of 16-24.
Jubilee Designs is a short term contract with the goal of teaching skills that will be useful in future employment. Tasks include sewing, silk screening, graphic design and teaching workshops. Please read full description here.

Jubilee Designs - Studio Artist Job Description:
Jubilee Designs is an up-cycled design and decor business. It is a social enterprise developed through Art Space at The Yonge Street Mission's Evergreen Centre. We use recycled materials and make new, beautiful, and well-made gifts, accessories and decor items.
Jubilee Designs offers part-time employment with flexible shifts that focuses on the individual's goals during the 6 month workroom session contract. Studio artists can sign up for the available shifts they’d like to take, there is also a back-up slot in case a scheduled artist is unable to make the shift.
Jubilee offers a minimum of 6 hours (may be opportunity for up to 12 hours) of work per week with pay of $15/hour. At the end of each session, participants may be eligible to re-apply.
Aspects of the Studio Artist position include:
Collecting, sorting, cleaning, and ironing materials
Learning proper use of sewing machines and related tools
Learning silk screening
Working with Business Manager, Creative Director, and Studio Instructors to learn designs
Producing products as designed (bunting, scarves, totes, etc.)
Packaging and storing products
Keeping workspace clean and organized
Working with business manager/creative director to achieve short and long-term employment, education and personal goals
May also include networking and client relation opportunites at craft fairs/pop-up shops
Opportunity for advancement:
Studio Artists that demonstrate particular skills and commitment will have the opportunity to advance to Studio Instructors. They will be trained to lead workshops to groups of the public. Studio Instructors will lead workshops for parties or corporate team-building events; leading things such as silkscreening, or how to make fabric baby books, etc. Training for studio instructors will have opportunity to train and practice leading workshops during Art Space on Fridays.

Between the ages of 16-24
Generally available for the three days a week of Jubilee Shifts (Currently Mon, Wed, Fri)
Youth can participate in Jubilee Designs twice. They will have to re-apply for the second session along with other interested applicants and are not guaranteed a position.
Youth who have completed two sessions with Jubilee may apply for an exception for a third workroom session. Exception forms will be reviewed by Jubilee administrators and will be subject to space availability.
Jubilee Designs - Studio Instructor Job Description:
Jubilee Designs is an up-cycled design and decor business. It is a social enterprise developed through Art Space at The Yonge Street Mission's Evergreen Centre.
The Studio Instructor position is focused on the skills needed to lead a workshop. Workshops will be offered for parties or corporate team-building events; leading things such as silkscreening, or how to make fabric baby books, etc. Training will be provided in two ways; first though Studio Artists shifts where the items offered as workshops will be made, and second through assisting in leading Art Space in the Evergreen Drop-in on Friday afternoons.
The workshops will use recycled materials and make new, beautiful, and well-made items for weddings, parties, other celebrations, and as gifts.
Payment for the Studio Instructor position is $17/hour. Hours are based on booked workshops, Studio Instructors will sign up for available hours as they become available. There is also a back-up slot in case a scheduled instructor is unable to make the shift.
Studio instructors will continue to sign up for Studio Artists shifts.
Aspects of the Studio Artist position include:
Learning to make items that will be offered in the workshops
Teach skills in workshops
Trouble-shoot sewing machine issues in collaboration with Business Manager
Assessing production and workshop strategies, researching trends
Recruiting other youth through Art Space
Must be participating in Jubilee Designs as a Studio Artist during the same session
